    How to Care for Your
    lalune Bedding

There is a quiet luxury in sheets that feel exactly right, night after night. TENCEL™ Lyocell — the sole fiber in every lalune piece — is among the most technically refined textiles available. Its cellulose structure gives it extraordinary softness, breathability, and natural resilience. But like any premium material, it rewards those who understand how to look after it.

The good news: caring for lalune bedding is not complicated. It simply requires intention — a few deliberate habits that protect the fiber's unique molecular architecture and ensure your investment remains as beautiful on its thousandth wash as it was on its first.

Why the Fiber Demands Gentle Care

TENCEL™ Lyocell is produced from eucalyptus wood pulp via a closed-loop solvent process. The resulting fiber has a smooth, round cross-section that gives it its characteristic silk-like surface. That same smoothness means the fiber can be vulnerable to high agitation and heat: excessive friction disrupts the fibrils on the surface, leading to pilling and a gradual loss of sheen.

Research in textile engineering confirms that cellulose fibers such as lyocell perform significantly better when subjected to low-temperature, low-agitation wash cycles. A 2019 study published in the Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry demonstrated that lyocell fibers retain their tensile strength and surface integrity far longer when washed at or below 40°C compared to higher temperatures.

"The lifespan of a premium lyocell textile is not determined at the loom — it is determined in the laundry room."

    The lalune Washing Protocol

Wash your lalune bedding inside out in cool or warm water — never above 40°C. Select your machine's delicate or wool cycle, which limits agitation. Use a small amount of mild, pH-neutral liquid detergent; avoid powder detergents which can leave residue in the fine fibers. A mesh laundry bag offers additional protection against friction during the wash cycle.

Fabric softener is not needed and not recommended. TENCEL™ Lyocell is naturally soft; softeners coat the fiber in a thin synthetic film that progressively clogs its moisture-wicking pores, diminishing the very breathability you purchased. This is confirmed by Lenzing AG, the Austrian manufacturer of TENCEL™ fibers. Never bleach — bleach breaks down cellulose chains at a molecular level, permanently weakening the fiber structure.

    Drying: Low and Slow

If using a tumble dryer, always select the lowest heat setting and remove the bedding while still slightly damp. The residual warmth of the room will finish the job without stress to the fiber. Better still: air-dry flat or on a line, away from direct sunlight. UV exposure bleaches natural fibers and can cause subtle color fading over time.

After drying, your lalune sheets may feel slightly crisper than expected — this is entirely normal. TENCEL™ Lyocell softens again with body warmth and movement; within a few minutes on the bed, it will return to its signature drape.

    Storage & Longevity

Store folded in cotton or linen bags rather than plastic bins or vacuum compression bags, which trap moisture and can cause fiber degradation over time. Rotating between two or three sets of bedding also reduces overall wear on each set. With proper care, lalune bedding is designed to accompany you for years — a considered alternative to the disposable cycle of fast textiles.

    Care at a glance
    • Wash at maximum 30–40°C, delicate cycle, inside out
    • Use mild liquid detergent — no powder, no bleach, no softener
    • Wash inside a laundry bag to reduce friction
    • Tumble dry on lowest heat or air-dry away from direct sun
    • Store folded in a breathable bag or drawer
    • Rotate between sets to extend the life of each
