Lalune — Quality & longevity

TENCEL™ lasts. Here's why.

An investment in bedding that doesn't degrade — night after night, wash after wash.

Buying quality bedding means buying less often. TENCEL™ Lyocell is one of the rare cellulosic fibres whose strength is documented both dry and when wet — precisely where most natural textiles lose their integrity.

Strength born from molecular structure

TENCEL™'s durability is not the result of surface treatments or chemical additives — it is written into the fibre itself. The lyocell process produces fibres with high cellulosic crystallinity: polymer chains that are long, well-oriented and densely organised. It is this molecular architecture that gives TENCEL™ its exceptional tenacity.

Lenzing AG confirms it officially: TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are characterised by high tenacity among cellulosic fibres. The ScienceDirect Library notes that the dry tensile strength of lyocell is greater than all other regenerated cellulosic fibres — and this strength does not collapse when wet, with only approximately 12% loss in strength when the fibre is wet, where cotton and viscose lose considerably more.

−12% strength loss when wet — among the best performance of any cellulosic fibre
4.8–5.0 g/d dry tenacity — higher than viscose and standard cotton
10 yrs possible lifespan with proper care

Wash after wash: what doesn't change

It is in the wash that most sheets reveal their limits. Cotton shrinks, synthetics pill, linen creases. TENCEL™ follows a different path.

Its softness is not the result of a finish or surface treatment that fades with washing — it is intrinsic to the fibre. As a result, the silky feel of the first day is preserved over time. TENCEL™'s resistance to pilling is superior to ordinary cotton, and its dimensional stability — its ability not to shrink — is significantly better than cotton, provided care instructions are followed.

TENCEL™ doesn't age the same way cotton does. Its softness is structural — it doesn't wash out.

  • Superior pilling resistance vs cotton — fibres don't clump into little balls
  • Dimensional stability — won't shrink when washed at low temperature
  • Colour retention — absorbs dye more deeply than cotton; colours stay vivid longer
  • Wet strength — doesn't distort or deform during the spin cycle
  • Preserved softness — inherent to fibre structure, not a surface treatment

Wrinkle resistance: bedding that stays looking its best

TENCEL™ has a higher drape coefficient than cotton — its smooth surface and supple structure allow the fabric to fall naturally rather than crease. A study comparing 150 users over 90 days showed that lyocell textiles maintained wrinkle resistance 40% better than their cotton equivalents.

In practice, this means bedding that comes out of the dryer (or off the line) with minimal creasing, and naturally falls back into shape after a few minutes on the bed — with no need to iron it every time.

Caring for TENCEL™: simple and lasting

The longevity of TENCEL™ depends largely on appropriate care. The fibre is robust — but like all natural fibres, it prefers gentleness over excessive heat.

🌊 Washing

30°C maximum, delicate cycle. Cold water preserves the structure and colours.

💨 Drying

Air dry or tumble dry on low heat. Avoid high heat which weakens the fibres.

🧴 Detergent

Mild detergent, no bleaching agent. No chlorine — it degrades cellulose.

📅 Frequency

TENCEL™ stays fresh longer than cotton thanks to its moisture management — you can wash less often.

Lalune: buy better, buy less

A Lalune TENCEL™ sheet is not an expense — it's an investment. In bedding that is softer, stronger, and stays with you year after year without degrading.
