Lalune — Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know about Lalune, TENCEL™ and your orders.

About TENCEL™
What exactly is TENCEL™ Lyocell? +

TENCEL™ Lyocell is a regenerated cellulosic fibre produced by Lenzing AG (Austria) from eucalyptus wood pulp sourced from FSC-certified forests. Its manufacturing uses a closed-loop process that recovers over 99.8% of the solvent used — resulting in near-zero waste.

It is neither a synthetic fibre nor ordinary cotton: it is a naturally derived, transformed fibre that combines natural softness with superior textile performance.

Why is TENCEL™ better than cotton? +

TENCEL™ absorbs 50% more moisture than cotton and is 50% more breathable. Its surface is smoother, reducing friction against the skin. It resists pilling and shrinking better, and retains its colours longer. From an environmental standpoint, its production uses significantly less water and generates fewer emissions.

Is TENCEL™ suitable for sensitive skin? +

Yes. TENCEL™ fibres have a smooth, rounded surface that minimises friction against the skin. Unlike cotton, which can become slightly abrasive after several washes, TENCEL™'s softness is structural — it holds up wash after wash. The fibre requires no chemical surface treatment to achieve this softness.

Does Lalune bedding help you sleep better? +

TENCEL™ actively regulates moisture and heat — two key factors in sleep comfort. By maintaining a stable, cool microclimate between your body and your sheets, it naturally supports the body-cooling process required for falling asleep and reaching deep sleep. It's not a cure for poor sleep, but it is an optimised sleep environment.

Is TENCEL™ environmentally friendly? +

Yes. TENCEL™ is produced with 50% fewer carbon emissions and water consumption than generic lyocell. The wood used comes from FSC-certified forests. At end-of-life, the fibre is biodegradable and compostable under industrial, soil and marine conditions (Vinçotte certified). The closed-loop process recovers 99.8% of the solvent.

Lalune bedding
What duvet cover size should I choose? +

The duvet cover should match the dimensions of your duvet — not your mattress. The most common sizes: 140 × 200 cm for a single, 200 × 200 cm for a double, 240 × 220 cm for a King.

When in doubt between two sizes, go larger — generous bedding always drapes better.
How do I choose the right fitted sheet size? +

The fitted sheet must match your mattress exactly (length × width), taking its height into account. Our fitted sheets have a corner pocket depth of 25 to 30 cm. If your mattress exceeds 30 cm (including memory foam mattresses or toppers), check the depth stated on the product page.

Is Lalune bedding good for people who sleep hot? +

Absolutely — it's one of its greatest strengths. TENCEL™ is 50% more breathable than cotton and its higher thermal conductivity creates an immediate sensation of coolness to the touch. It wicks moisture away rather than retaining it, keeping your sleep surface dry and fresh throughout the night.

Is Lalune bedding suitable in winter too? +

Yes. TENCEL™ regulates the microclimate in both directions — it disperses excess heat in summer, and maintains a comfortable temperature in winter through its moisture management. The goal is not to feel cold but to create a stable, balanced environment, whatever the season.

Care & durability
How do I wash my Lalune bedding? +

Wash at 30°C maximum on a delicate cycle, using a mild detergent without bleaching agents. Cold water is even better for colour preservation. Avoid bleach and high temperatures, which weaken the fibre.

TENCEL™ stays fresh longer than cotton — you can wash every 10 to 14 days under normal use.
Can I use a tumble dryer? +

Yes, but on low heat only. Remove the bedding while still slightly damp to avoid excessive creasing. Air drying (flat or on a hanger) is preferable to maximise the lifespan of the fibre.

How long does Lalune bedding last? +

With proper care, TENCEL™ bedding can last several years, potentially up to a decade. Lyocell fibre has high tenacity among cellulosic fibres — it resists pilling and wear better than ordinary cotton, and its softness doesn't fade over time as it is structural, not tied to a surface treatment.

Will Lalune bedding shrink in the wash? +

TENCEL™ has better dimensional stability than cotton — it won't shrink if you follow the care instructions (30°C, delicate cycle). Avoid high temperatures, which can cause slight shrinkage as with most natural fibres.
